Contributing with Art and Design Education in Tanzania
2013 - 2014 | Tanzania
The main goal of this project is to explore how the school system, with a particular emphasis on art education, can be leveraged as a tool to create a safe and supportive learning environment. This art-centred approach not only aims to identify societal challenges but also to actively promote gender equality and equalise opportunities for students.
It resulted in notable improvements in students' performance across mainstream subjects, that can be attributed to the use of art in visualising complex concepts in these subjects. Furthermore, the incorporation of art stimulated the development of imagination and self-expression and thus supported students to articulate their future aspirations, goals, and dreams. Additionally, this program influenced some female students to pursue further vocational education, reflecting a positive shift in educational engagement and career ambitions.
