A Study of Patterns on East African Fabrics
2011 - 2016 | Tanzania
The project primarily concentrates on the creation and distribution processes of traditional East African fabrics, with a special focus on Khanga and Kitenge. It investigates the patterns characteristic of these fabrics, exploring their cultural significance and production methods. Moreover, the project seeks to understand how these traditional designs can be adapted and transformed to meet contemporary user needs, potentially bridging the gap between historical craftsmanship and modern aesthetic demands.
As an outcome, the project has led to practical, modern applications of these traditional patterns, translating them into products and designs that reflect the user needs.
