Arbeidsplassen Assistance: Easing Employment for Ukrainian Refugees in Norway
2022 | Norway
This project, in collaboration with the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (Arbeids-og Velferdsforvaltning) and Arbeidsplassen.no, focuses on facilitating faster employment for Ukrainian refugees upon their arrival. While job searching is a tinny problems in the complexity of challenges that refugees face when come to a new country, it is equally important as school adaptations for children or general emotional challenges and adaptation in a new cultural context. A significant issue identified during research is the discrimination and cultural bias immigrants and refugees encounter in the recruitment process. Additionally, the difficulty in getting foreign education recognised in Norway often leads them to work in fields unrelated to their expertise, posing obstacles their integration into the relevant job market.
It resulted in the creation of a concept designed to assist recruiters using Arbeidsplassen.no in making more conscious decisions during the recruitment process. The goal was to effectively communicate the value of hiring with diversity in mind and to lower the threshold for doing so, by making the information both accessible and actionable.
